Skiing and other daytime activities in the snow

When talking about Andorra in the winter, the first thing that comes to mind is skiing, and the amazing ski-stations and slopes where this winter sport is practised. But Alpine skiing is not the only activity. In Andorra there are other ways of enjoying the snow and our spectacular mountain scenery. For example, what better way than an excursion on snowshoes to a frozen lake in the heart of Nature? If you have children with you, one of the most amusing activities – and one which is gaining popularity year by year – is mushing: a trip on a sledge pulled by dogs which you c@n even drive yourself. For the more daring among you, an excursion by snowmobile, which you can also do by night – a unique experience. If what you really like is scenery, you will find a new perspective at Naturlandia, when you climb up one of the longest toboggan runs in Europe and feel a rush of adrenalin as you descend on the rails of the two-seater trolley.

A pause to recover your strength

If you find yourself on the slopes at lunchtime, you only need to choose the place that appeals to you the most. Both at Grandvalira and at Vallnord you will find many restaurants where the local gastronomy will delight you, and where you can taste new flavours from the best international cuisine, or from the typical mountain cuisine, such as raclettes or fondues.

The best plans for the après-ski

If you want to party in a completely skiing atmosphere, you will find several places where you can dance to good music with DJ sessions, take some refreshments, or even dine with your friends. The Abarset (in the Tarter de Grandvalira sector) is currently the most fashionable place – you mustn’t fail to go there.

Lovers of shopping will find in the main commercial streets of Escaldes and Andorra la Vella endless shops to suit all tastes. Why not indulge yourself (especially at this time of year, when you can take advantage of the winter sales)?

Foodies will not be able to resist the charm of dining in a borda (a typical Andorran house) and trying our amazing gastronomy based on meats, mushrooms and stews − ideal for this time of year.

Caldea combines with everything!

Whatever you choose for the après-ski, after a strenuous day in the snow the best thing you can do is to come and take a bath in our thermal waters and continue to have fun with the family in the Thermoludic  or to relax as a couple at Inúu.
And don’t forget that, if you are looking for even more to enjoy, or to spend the day differently, you can also come to Caldea in the morning. Here, you will find a very relaxing atmosphere, you will have time to enjoy a massage or some kind of treatment, and you will even be able to enjoy the Mediterranean or Oriental cuisine in one of our restaurants, at lunchtime or dinner time.

As you can see, in Andorra there are so many things to do that you can try something different for almost every hour of the day. Whatever your favourite may be, don’t delay any more, and come and visit us this winter!
