The new Tibetan bridge in Canillo: a must-visit this summer

Llacuna-panoràmica-Andorra

There’s always something to discover in Andorra! And this summer is bringing yet another new reason to visit. On 8 June, Canillo opened its Tibetan bridge, which spans one of the most beautiful valleys in the country. Will you dare to cross it?

The new Tibetan bridge in Canillo

At 603 metres, it’s one of the longest in the world, and in the middle it boasts a height of 158 metres above the ground. It is located in the Vall del Riu, a stunningly beautiful natural landscape at an altitude of 1,875 metres, with a small river running through it. The bridge is a minimalist structure that is just one metre wide and affords breathtaking views of the entire valley.
This activity can be enjoyed with children (admission is free for children under 5), but they always need to be accompanied by an adult. The bridge can only be crossed on foot; it is not suitable for vehicles, prams or wheelchairs.
Another advantage of the new Tibetan bridge is that it’s located very close to the famous Roc del Quer viewpoint, another must-visit on your trip to Andorra.

How to get to the Tibetan Bridge

You can get there by car and park in the Roc del Quer car park. Whether you come from Canillo on the Montaup road or from Ordino by heading up the Coll de Ordino, the views along the route itself are already very appealing. Once you reach the car park, you can take the bus that runs every 30 minutes. If you don’t fancy driving along a mountain pass, you can jump on the bus that leaves from the centre of Canillo village. However you choose to get there (shuttle from the car park or bus from Canillo), the transport is included in the price of admission and will drop you off at the beginning of the path to the footbridge. It’s a 900-metre stone walkway, so it’s impossible to miss.
Tickets for the Tibetan Bridge can currently only be purchased through the website or the tourist office. There are packages available that add the Roc del Quer, which will also have an entrance fee this year, and in both cases bus transport is included in the price.
The Tibetan Bridge will be open every day until 30 November.
