One of the sporting events of the year is coming to Grandvalira: the men’s and women’s Alpine Skiing Europa Cup Finals. From 14 to 20 March, Andorra will be the centre of the universe for snow sports fans.
The resort has hosted major top-level competitions throughout its history. Following on from the success of the Alpine Skiing World Cup in 2012 and 2016 and the World Cup Finals in 2019, Grandvalira is preparing for the Europa Cup Finals (14-20 March 2022) – a true test for the organisation before hosting the World Cup Finals for the second time from 13-19 March 2023.
In addition, this year the resort will once again welcome the Speed Skiing final on the Riberal de Grau Roig piste, which will take place from 31 March to 2 April.
Alpine Skiing Europa Cup finals
You’ll get to see the best skiers in each discipline in action over four events. The speed-based competitions will be held on the Áliga piste in the El Tarter sector, which will host the downhill and super-G. With a length of 2.7 km and a maximum descent of 751 metres, racers can hit speeds of up to 120 km/h.
The Avet piste in the Soldeu sector will be the venue for the slalom and giant slalom technical events. This slope connects with the village of Soldeu thanks to a 14,000 m² platform which houses all the facilities and grandstands so you can follow the event from up close.
Without a doubt, this is one of the most hotly anticipated major events for ski fans!
