Road cycling is becoming very fashionable. Its recreational and social aspects, and let’s not forget its many health benefits (a low-impact sport that is extremely effective for training the cardiovascular system) have led more and more people to take it up each year.
468 km2 containing 21 cycling climbs, some of which are category 1 and special category, make Andorra an ideal destination for the most discerning cyclists. You can even attempt to emulate a stage from the Vuelta a España or a final stage from the Tour de France.
The Volta als Ports, Andorra’s oldest cyclotourist event, turns 41 this year. On the 1st of July, 3 different routes will be available to make it accessible to the largest possible number of participants: a “mini” route of 21 km, a short route of 80 km and longer one measuring 111 km (which recreates the route of the Andorran stage of the 2016 Tour).
We won’t pretend that the cycle routes in Andorra aren’t tough. To offset this, you’ll notice that our roads are made from tarmac that is perfect for bicycles and they also have information boards to guide you throughout your journey. And if your fitness doesn’t extend to the big challenges, don’t hesitate to try the electric bicycles instead. They will enable you to ascend any cycling climb with ease, so you can enjoy the unique landscapes and practise your favourite sport.
For the participants, and also for cyclists who, despite not being in the race, are still lovers of this two-wheeled sport, Caldea is the best way to recover after a bike ride. Try one of our relaxing massages to release your muscles, or feel your legs tingle as you get into the cold water in the Indo-Roman baths after a few minutes relaxing in the hot water.
Start July on two wheels and visit Andorra to discover the amazing routes you can cycle. Don’t miss the offers including massages that can only be found on our website and book now at the best price!
