Three photogenic spots in Andorra

We all like to whip out our cameras and photograph everything in sight, whether it’s to capture the moment or to immortalise the beauty of a location; alone or with company; for posting on social media or just for ourselves.
Andorra is a great little country with spectacular hidden spots that are rich in natural beauty and perfect for capturing from every angle.

Here are our top 3:

Roc del Quer

Located in Canillo, just a 30-minute drive from CALDEA, on the road known as Coll de Ordino. As you climb up, you can appreciate the beauty of the surroundings, which are covered in a vivid shade of green at this time of the summer. When you arrive, the first thing you will see will be the peak of Casamanya. There’s a bit of a walk to get to the famous sculpture that sits atop this place… but it’s well worth it. Once you get there you will be able to enjoy the spectacular views of the whole valley: several of Andorra’s peaks are visible in the distance along with the Sanctuary of Meritxell (the patron saint of Andorra).

Rec del Solà

This beautiful walk along a stone pathway at the foot of the peak of Carroi can be accessed on foot or by car. Even though this spot is so nearby and accessible, you’ll still be surrounded by nature. From here you can find beautiful panoramic views of Escaldes-Engordany and Andorra la Vella. And, if you arrive when the sun starts to go down, you’ll be able to photograph the spectacular sunset (although you can get all kinds of stunning photos at any time of the day). You won’t need any filters here, natural is the most picturesque.

The Coll de Jou Vantage Point

To get to this vantage point, head to the parish of Sant Julià de Lòria, the first town you encounter as you cross into Andorra from the Spanish border. Here you will be able to see the contrasting vegetation as you spot birds that are native to this area. It’s a great opportunity to put all your photographic prowess to the test and capture some moving subjects.

These are just three of our favourite spots, but there are many more to find in our wonderful country. With photography as your motivation, you can discover many hidden and lesser known locations.

Our final recommendation for today is that you end your trip in CALDEA, purchase admission, hire an underwater camera, and go home with a gallery full of unique experiences. Are you ready?
