If our previous article What is there to see in Andorra in spring?<\/a> inspired you to book a getaway to our country, then you\u2019re probably already looking at dates and browsing our hotel + CALDEA<\/a> offers. But, do you know how to get here? Let us tell you about the various ways that you can get to our principality.<\/p>\n

By car<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Road links are the only entry point to our country. Many improvements have been made in recent decades, and the roads leading into Andorra are now very good (considering they are mountain roads). If you are coming from Spain, you will need to join the N-145, a road a little over 10 km long that connects Seu d\u2019Urgell with the Spain-Andorra border.<\/p>\n

We recommend that you avoid the busiest times, especially on a long weekend or the day before a holiday. It\u2019s best to schedule your journey so that you don\u2019t arrive on a Saturday morning between 11:00 and 14:00, that way you won\u2019t get caught in traffic and you can make the most of your getaway!<\/p>\n

If you are travelling from France, the situation is very similar! Just one road (Route N22) takes you to Pas de la Casa. Once there, you can decide whether to take the Puerto de Envalira\u2014which, despite being very windy, has incredible panoramic views\u2014or the Envalira tunnel, which is direct and fast.<\/p>\n

Coming from far away on public transport?<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

If you are travelling via Spain, you will most likely be arriving at either El Prat, Lleida-Alguaire or Reus airport; there are direct bus services to Andorra available at each of them. But if you land in Madrid (or the starting point for your trip is the Spanish capital), we recommend that you jump on the AVE train which will take you to the Lleida bus station, where you can also catch a bus to Andorra.<\/p>\n

Many international airports are between 195 and 240 kilometres from Andorra. If you land in Toulouse \u2013 Blagnac, there are regular bus connections that will bring you closer to our country, as well as a service that will take you right to the door of your hotel if you prefer. If you are in the city centre you can also catch a bus from Matabiau train station.<\/p>\n

Another option for travelling from France to the country of the Pyrenees is taking a train to L\u2019Hospitalet-pr\u00e8s-l\u2019Andorre station, where there are regular connections to the Andorran capital.<\/p>\n

Up-to-date documents!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget that Andorra is not part of the European Union, so you will need to ensure that your documents and those of your companions are in order. Although it is not typically the case, when crossing the border your documents may be inspected by Spanish or French border officials, or by the Andorran police.<\/p>\n

And you must also consider the border when you return home with your shopping\u2026 there are established limits (depending on the products you have purchased) that determine the maximum quantities and\/or value of items that you are permitted to bring into your home country without declaring them.
